Conditions of UseBlazeblock (HydroDome) Anti-Fire Spread Ramp

1. Proper Use

The Blazeblock ramp (model BZB-360 / Hydrodome) is designed for preventive use against the spread of open-air fires, by spraying pressurized water in a 360° radius around a house or building. Alongside this 360° protection, it also offers roof protection to limit the impact of heat on your roof timbers. It is designed to be installed on the roof or on the ground using a self-supporting bracket, and strictly for outdoor use.

It is not a piece of equipment for direct fire intervention, nor a personal protection device.
Our ramps are intended to prevent or slow the spread of fire to buildings.

2. Installation Conditions

The HydroDome ramp must be installed carefully, in accordance with the provided manual. It can be mounted:

  • Either on the roof ridge for 360° protection,

  • Or on the ground for 180° directional coverage.

Mounting can be done without drilling, using the sliding bracket system designed to slide under the tiles, or with drilling if the support is compatible with your roof.
The user must ensure that the installation surface is stable, strong, and safely accessible.

  • Installation is only allowed on compatible structures (roof, sturdy flat ground).

  • Can be mounted with or without drilling using the included kit.

  • Must be connected to a water source with sufficient pressure and flow.

  • Operating environment must be outdoor only, and free from obstacles that could interfere with the spray.

  • Rooftop installation is not recommended for people with vertigo or without proper training. In such cases, professional assistance is highly recommended.

3. Pressure, Flow, and Supply

  • The ramp must be connected to a water source capable of supplying a pressure between 5 and 8 bars(72 to 116PSI), depending on the number of nozzles installed, the diameter of the orifices, and the desired projection distance.
Insufficient pressure will reduce the spray range, compromising the effectiveness of the perimeter coverage.

Water supply may come from:

  • A booster pump (electric or thermal), suitable for providing constant pressure

  • A domestic water network (often limited to 2–3 bars(29 to 43PSI))

  • A gravity-fed source with stabilized pressure (e.g., elevated tank, pool)

  • A tank, reservoir, well… anything that can contain clean water

For optimal performance, it is recommended to use:

  • A multistage pump or booster pump delivering 6 to 7 bars(87 to 101PSI) at constant flow (minimum 4000 L/h)

  • A reinforced distribution hose with a 16 mm internal diameter, to limit pressure losses

  • A pipe length under 50 m between the source and the ramp — or use a more powerful pump if needed

BlazeBlock declines all responsibility in case of poor performance due to incorrect hydraulic configuration.
It is advisable to perform a test during high-risk periods.
If you’re unsure about what equipment to use, our team is available to help guide you to a configuration suited to your specific needs.

4. Use in a Fire Situation

  • The ramp must be activated before the fire arrives, as part of a preventive strategy.

  • It is not designed to be handled during an active fire.

  • In case of a fire alert or active spread, evacuation is strongly recommended, even if the system is operating.

  • BlazeBlock assumes no responsibility for bodily injury resulting from use of the device.

5. Maintenance and Inspections

  • To ensure proper operation and product longevity, regular maintenance of the HydroDome ramp is essential.

Routine Maintenance:

  • After each extended period of use (nearby fire, testing, etc.), rinse the nozzles with clean water to remove any lime scale, sand, or other residues.

  • Visually inspect the condition of nozzles, seals, fittings, and the ramp’s structure.

  • If needed, disassemble the nozzles for manual cleaning using a needle or soft brush (never drill or enlarge the orifices).

Recommended Frequency:

  • Monthly during high fire risk periods (summer, drought).

  • Before each reinstallation after winter storage.

Specific Precautions:

  • Protect the ramp from frost during winter. If exposed to freezing temperatures, fully drain the system to avoid internal bursting from frozen water.

  • Never use corrosive or abrasive products not designed for stainless steel or brass.

  • Ensure all fixings remain securely in place, especially after strong weather (wind, rain).

Technical Inspections:

  • Test the system under pressure at startup.

  • Check that all nozzles deliver a consistent flow rate.

  • Ensure proper spray direction and protected area coverage.

If you have any doubts about the condition or correct operation of the ramp, contact BlazeBlock for an assessment or spare parts.

Lack of regular maintenance may reduce the system's effectiveness and void certain warranties defined in the current Terms and Conditions.

6. Usage Restrictions

  • Do not use for purposes other than those intended.

  • The HydroDome ramp is a preventive device, designed exclusively for outdoor use.

  • It must never be used:

    • Indoors or in enclosed spaces

    • As a cleaning or agricultural irrigation system, or for any other diverted use

    • In the presence of unsupervised children or animals during operation

It is also prohibited to:

  • Modify the nozzles or use non-approved nozzles

  • Connect the ramp to a pressure exceeding 10 bars (tolerance up to 12 bars(174PSI))

  • Use water containing residues, oils, solvents, or chemical products

Any use that goes against the manufacturer’s recommendations will void the warranty and may present risks to property and people.

7. Safety and Compliance

The product is designed in accordance with:

  • Directive 2001/95/EC on general product safety

  • Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, in cases where a motorized pump is used

All components are tested to withstand the announced pressures.
The user remains solely responsible for complying with the usage conditions described in this manual.
